About Gemello, Mountain View

Gemello is a residential neighborhood in west Mountain View, generally bounded by El Camino Real, El Monte Avenue, Jardin Drive and Karen Way, near the Los Altos border. It takes its name from the Gemello Winery, which the Gemello family opened in 1934 just after Prohibition ended and operated for nearly 50 years. Part of the former winery land was dedicated to the city and became Gemello Park. Most of the surrounding homes were built in the 1950s as the area transitioned from orchards to suburbs.

Moving to Gemello

Moving to Gemello means living on quiet residential streets set back from El Camino Real, with mature trees and generous front yards. The neighborhood is just a couple of blocks from the shops and services along El Camino Real, including the Gemello Village center. San Antonio Center and downtown Los Altos are both a short drive away. Its location between Mountain View and Los Altos gives buyers easy access to both cities' amenities.

Cost of Living & Housing in Gemello

Gemello homes for sale sit in the upper tier of the Mountain View single-family market, with value driven by location and lot size. Most homes are early-1950s ranch-style houses, typically single-story with roughly 1,200 to 1,900 square feet. Many have been updated, expanded or given second-story additions over the years. Lots are generally in the 5,000 to 7,000 square foot range, and some apartments and townhomes sit closer to El Camino Real.

Gemello is centrally located for commutes across the Peninsula and South Bay. El Camino Real runs along the neighborhood's edge, with VTA bus service toward Palo Alto and San Jose. El Monte Avenue leads to Foothill Expressway and Interstate 280, while Central Expressway and Highway 101 are a short drive north. San Antonio Caltrain station and the downtown Mountain View Transit Center are both within a few minutes by car or bike.
